Paddignton Bridge: This Unusual London Bridge Opens Like A Fan

The City of London is renowned for its stunning and original architecture that stands out from all other cities. The proof is the recent construction of a bridge that converts itself into a fan like shape. We present to you this unusual construction.

This incredible bridge, named “Paddington Bridge”, has been designed by two renowned teams of architects: the company Knight Architects and the company AKT II. Measuring about 3 meters wide and 20 meters long, the bridge connects the two sides of the Grand Canal, in the district of Merchant Square. The people of London had the opportunity to participate in the opening cermony of this amazing building last August.

But what is its uniqueness? Just the way it is lifted. Indeed, when the bridge is flat, it is not different from any other bridge. However, when it is raised, the people of London are pleased to admire its most incredible architecture: thanks to its 5-spoke steel, the bridge opens like a fan.
