A group of scientists has developed an amazing computer program that reproduces the bipedal walking by simulating the operation of each muscle!Explanations.
A team of scientists from the University of British Columbia (Canada) and the University ‘of Utrecht (Netherlands) has developed an amazing computer program with some amazing capabilities. This program developed by Geijtenbeek Thomas, Michiel van de Panne and A. Frank van der Stappen can simulate the walking pattern among several bipedal animals.
As we can see in the video, the team creates humanoid and animal (which resemble dinosaurs) models having very diverse muscular structures: some have a bit bulky while the others have elongated legs, etc. The program recreates the actions of different muscles according to this simulated morphology. The results are therefore different for the simulation of different animals.
In the video, we can also see that the program was not as effective in the beginning. First movements are awkwards and mostly end with a fall. However, the computer program has the ability to learn and improve till the walking pattern seems to become natural.
This computer program is really amazing: these simulations really follow a natural walking approach! We can not wait to see if this program could be used in animation studios or if the bipedal robots can learn to walk properly with this technology.
